Patient Transporter – Full Time

About the role

The University of Miami’s Bascom Palmer Eye Institute is seeking a full‑time Patient Transporter to move patients safely between units while delivering exceptional customer service. This role supports patient satisfaction, clinical outcomes, and operational efficiency.

Key responsibilities

• Transport patients to and from various areas of the facility, ensuring timely completion.
• Retrieve medical records, lab results, supplies, and medications as needed.
• Notify nursing staff when patients leave and return to their units.
• Maintain patient charts alongside patients during transport.
• Collect and deliver specimens and blood products to the appropriate departments.
• Inspect oxygen cylinders before transport to confirm they are full and safe.
• Restock supplies in assigned areas and clean/disinfect reusable equipment.
• Accurately record transport activities in the patient transport system.

Required profile

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• No prior experience required; ability to learn new procedures and adapt to changing priorities.
• Strong teamwork orientation and willingness to collaborate with clinical staff.
• Basic technical proficiency with office software and relevant computer applications.
