About the role

The Patient Transporter 2 ensures safe, timely, and courteous movement of patients and visitors throughout the University of Miami Health system. This full‑time position plays a key part in the patient experience by providing a friendly, empathetic, and professional first impression.

Key responsibilities

• Transport patients and visitors between departments, admissions, discharge, and ancillary areas while maintaining patient confidentiality.
• Transfer bodies to the morgue following established protocols.
• Assist at the main lobby greeting patients and coordinating transport assignments.
• Verify patient identity using name, date of birth, and armband before movement.
• Monitor patient condition during transport, reporting any changes to nursing staff.
• Observe proper body mechanics and lifting techniques when moving patients.
• Maintain clear hallways by storing equipment appropriately and handling stretchers and wheelchairs safely.
• Participate in emergency drills, in‑service trainings, and disaster response procedures.

Required profile

• Friendly, empathic, well‑spoken, and bilingual with a strong consumer‑oriented mindset.
• Ability to work seamlessly with UHealth Tower staff to reduce delays and improve satisfaction.
• Commitment to patient privacy, infection control, and proper use of personal protective equipment.
• Willingness to train Patient Transporter 1 incumbents as needed.
