Patient Safety Observer (Full‑Time)

About the role
The University of Miami Hospital is seeking a full‑time Patient Safety Observer to supervise patients at risk of injury or elopement. You will work on 12‑hour day shifts in the UHealth Tower, collaborating with the interdisciplinary team to ensure a safe environment for patients.
Key responsibilities
- Prepare patient rooms for admission and orient patients to their surroundings.
- Assist with dressing, bathing, toileting, feeding, positioning, and ambulation.
- Monitor patients for changes in condition or behavior and report concerns to nursing staff immediately.
- Support discharge processes by helping patients pack and transport belongings.
- Follow isolation, infection‑control, OSHA, and AHCA guidelines.
- Participate in mandatory education, in‑services, and unit policies.
Required profile
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- At least one year of relevant experience in a healthcare setting.
- Ability to work evenings, nights, and weekends as needed.
- Commitment to interpersonal collaboration and university core values.
