Patient Care Technician - Emergency Night Shift

About the role

UChicago Medicine AdventHealth is hiring a full-time Patient Care Technician for its emergency department in Glendale Heights, Illinois. The position works nights (7:00 pm to 3:30 am) with rotating weekends and holidays, at 40 hours per week. The pay range is $17.33 to $27.73.

Key responsibilities

• Support nursing staff with patient care tasks.
• Maintain patient rooms clean and orderly.
• Aid with the movement and placement of patients.
• Assist patients with personal care and activities of daily living.
• Report changes in physical, mental and emotional condition to nursing staff.
• Document records accurately and on time, and monitor and report patient conditions.
• Ensure medical equipment functions properly and follows safety and infection control protocols.
• Communicate with patients, families and the healthcare team, and take part in training and development.

Required profile

• High school graduate or equivalent (required).
• Certified Patient Care Technician/Assistant (CPCT/A) or Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA), or Emergency Medical Tech (EMT) certification (required).
• Basic Life Support / CPR certification (required).
• Preferred: 1+ years of applicable PCT experience, and previous bedside patient care in an acute care unit, unit secretary, monitor technician or equivalent medical experience.
