Patient Benefits Advisor – Full Time

About the role

The Patient Benefits Advisor 2 ensures that patients receive accurate insurance coverage information and helps bridge any gaps so that services can be delivered smoothly. Working in the UHealth Tower, you will interact with patients, clinical staff, and insurance representatives to facilitate timely authorizations and financial estimates.

Key responsibilities

• Greet patients and callers with a professional, friendly demeanor.
• Coordinate with scheduling departments to arrange appointments when prior authorizations are pending or denied.
• Assist departments with inquiries about account status, pre‑certification, eligibility, and financial estimates.
• Maintain confidentiality of patient information and dispose of paperwork securely.
• Obtain and document prior authorizations before services are rendered.
• Contact physician offices to gather missing patient data.
• Use estimate tools and insurance contacts to generate accurate out‑of‑pocket cost letters.
• Update patient accounts with correct insurance details and submit referral documentation promptly.
• Follow university policies and safeguard institutional assets.

Required profile

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum 2 years of relevant experience in patient services, insurance, or healthcare administration.
• Strong customer service orientation and excellent written and verbal communication.
• Highly detail‑oriented, organized, and able to work independently.
• Knowledge of medical terminology.
