Patient Benefits Advisor 2 – Full Time

About the role

The University of Miami’s Bascom Palmer Eye Institute is seeking a full‑time Patient Benefits Advisor 2 to ensure patients receive the appropriate insurance coverage for their eye care services. In this role you will act as the primary point of contact for patients, guiding them through eligibility, prior authorizations and financial estimates.

Key responsibilities

• Greet patients in person or by phone with a professional, friendly demeanor.
• Coordinate with scheduling departments to arrange appointments when prior authorizations are pending or denied.
• Respond to departmental inquiries regarding account status, pre‑certification, eligibility and financial estimates.
• Maintain confidentiality of patient information and dispose of paperwork securely.
• Obtain and document all required prior authorizations before services are rendered.
• Contact physician offices to collect missing patient data.
• Use insurance tools to generate accurate out‑of‑pocket estimates and issue estimate letters.
• Update patient accounts with correct insurance details and submit referral documentation promptly.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent; relevant experience, certification or license accepted.
• Minimum two years of experience in patient benefits, insurance verification or related field.
• Strong learning agility, teamwork orientation and clear written and verbal communication.

Required skills

• Proficiency with office software and related computer applications.
