Patient Access Representative – Onsite

About the role

The University of Miami Health System is seeking a Patient Access Representative 1 to join its Patient Access department. In this onsite position you will be the first point of contact for patients, handling registration, insurance verification, and payment collection while ensuring a smooth and welcoming experience.

Key responsibilities

• Register patients for clinical services, verify insurance benefits, and collect payments.
• Obtain and scan insurance cards, driver’s licenses, and referrals.
• Explain Consent for Treatment, Financial Liability, and HIPAA forms and secure patient signatures.
• Schedule, cancel, and edit appointments; track no‑shows accurately.
• Reconcile vouchers and deliver them to the designated area.
• Answer telephone inquiries, triage calls, and provide appropriate information or transfers.
• Utilize multiple systems (EPIC MyChart, Grand Central ADT, Cadence, Prelude, Radiant, OP Time, Care Everywhere, Resolute, Nice inContact, Aria Oncology) to manage patient flow from pre‑arrival to discharge.
• Assist patients with self‑serve technology such as MyChart and check‑in kiosks.

Required profile

• Professional, welcoming demeanor with strong interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast‑paced, constantly changing environment.
• Attention to detail and adherence to university policies and HIPAA regulations.

Required skills

• Experience with EPIC MyChart.
• Familiarity with Grand Central ADT.
• Knowledge of Cadence, Prelude, Radiant, OP Time, Care Everywhere, Resolute.
• Proficiency using Nice inContact communication platform.
• Understanding of Aria Oncology system.
