Patient Access Representative – Night Shift

About the role

The University of Miami Health System is seeking a Patient Access Representative to serve as the first point of contact for patients and visitors in the Emergency Department. This night‑shift position (11:00 PM – 7:30 AM, Monday‑Friday with alternating weekends) requires a professional, welcoming demeanor and the ability to manage inquiries both in person and by phone.

Key responsibilities

• Greet visitors and direct them to the appropriate destination.
• Answer incoming calls, place outgoing calls, and provide exceptional customer service.
• Respond to general questions, forward non‑routine requests to the appropriate staff.
• Perform basic administrative tasks such as sorting mail, handling faxes, and troubleshooting office equipment.
• Maintain department directories, visitation logs, and a tidy reception area.
• Place orders for department supplies as requested by leadership.
• Project a professional appearance and pleasant demeanor to create a welcoming atmosphere.
• Adhere to university and unit‑level policies, safeguarding assets and confidential information.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of 1 year of relevant experience in a customer‑facing or administrative role.
• General knowledge of office procedures and operations.
• Strong data‑entry accuracy with minimal errors.
• Effective oral and written communication skills.
• Attention to detail and ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
