Patient Access Representative (Level 1)

About the role

The University of Miami Health System is opening its new UHealth SoLé Mia campus and seeks a Patient Access Representative 1 to join the front‑line team. This on‑site position registers patients for clinical services, verifies insurance, and ensures accurate collection of payments.

Key responsibilities

• Perform full patient registration, verify insurance benefits, and confirm all patient information.
• Collect and copy insurance cards, driver’s licenses, and any required referrals.
• Explain Consent for Treatment, Financial Liability, and HIPAA notices; obtain signed forms.
• Guide patients through required questionnaires and schedule, cancel, or edit appointments.
• Reconcile vouchers and deliver them to the designated area.
• Answer telephone inquiries, provide information, or transfer calls as appropriate.
• Follow university and unit policies, safeguarding assets and confidential information.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum one year of relevant experience in a medical or office setting.
• General knowledge of office procedures and operations.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to complete assignments accurately.
• Effective oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
