Patient Access Representative – Full-time On-site

About the role

The Bascom Palmer Eye Institute at the University of Miami is seeking a full‑time Patient Access Representative to work on‑site in Miami. The role involves registering patients, verifying insurance, and ensuring a smooth check‑in experience.

Key responsibilities

• Perform full patient registration, collect insurance cards, IDs, and referrals, and obtain signed consent, HIPAA, and financial liability forms.
• Schedule, cancel, edit, and track appointments using EPIC MyChart, Grand Central ADT, Cadence, Prelude, and other clinical systems.
• Verify insurance eligibility in real time, update coverage information, and obtain necessary authorizations.
• Provide financial counseling at check‑in, explain benefits, co‑pays, deductibles, and collect patient payments.
• Answer high‑volume calls, triage inquiries, and document messages according to protocol.
• Reconcile cash drawers, process vouchers, and perform end‑of‑day bank deposits.
• Collaborate with clinical teams to ensure seamless patient flow and high satisfaction scores.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum 1 year of relevant experience in patient registration or front‑end revenue cycle.
• Strong attention to detail, ability to handle confidential information, and effective oral and written communication.

Required skills

• Proficiency with EPIC MyChart and related modules.
• Experience using ADT, Cadence, Nice inContact, Aria Oncology, and other healthcare information systems.
