Patient Access Representative – Front Desk Registration

About the role

The University of Miami Health System is seeking a Patient Access Representative to join its Patient Access department. In this on‑site position you will be the first point of contact for patients, handling registration, insurance verification, and payment collection while ensuring a smooth entry into clinical services.

Key responsibilities

• Register patients for clinical services, verify insurance benefits, and collect payments.
• Obtain and file copies of insurance cards, driver’s licenses, and referrals.
• Explain Consent for Treatment, Financial Liability, and HIPAA notices and secure signed forms.
• Guide patients through required questionnaires and schedule, cancel, or edit appointments.
• Record no‑show patients accurately and reconcile vouchers for delivery.
• Answer telephone inquiries, provide information, or transfer calls as appropriate.
• Follow university and unit policies, safeguarding assets and confidential information.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of 1 year of relevant experience in a medical office or similar setting.
• General knowledge of office procedures and operations.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to complete assignments accurately.
• Effective oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.

• Data entry with minimal errors.
