About the role

The Patient Access Representative – Admitting ensures a smooth and welcoming entry for patients into the hospital. This role creates the patient encounter, verifies insurance, collects financial information, and supports compliance with federal and accreditation standards.

Key responsibilities

• Accurately enter patient demographic, financial, and guarantor data into the system.
• Verify insurance eligibility, obtain authorizations, and calculate estimated patient responsibility.
• Collect patient payments, address prior balances, and perform financial assessments for assistance programs.
• Obtain required signatures on hospital documents and communicate clearly with patients, families, clinicians, and payers.
• Support departmental performance targets, adapt to fluctuating patient volumes, and assist in disaster response.
• Participate in high‑performance work teams, maintain a clean workspace using 5S principles, and report issues or improvement opportunities.
