About the role

The University of Miami UHealth Primary Care in North Miami is seeking a Patient Access Representative 3 to manage registration and financial clearance for patient services. This on‑site position ensures accurate data capture, insurance verification, and timely reimbursement.

Key responsibilities

• Obtain, confirm, and enter demographic, financial, and clinical information for scheduled patients.
• Contact families or physicians to gather missing insurance details.
• Verify insurance eligibility and notify patients or referring physicians of any issues.
• Collaborate with scheduling teams to identify add‑on patients.
• Secure authorizations, pre‑certifications, and referrals as required.
• Inform patients of financial liabilities before service dates and collect payments.
• Maintain accurate records and documentation in the system of record.
• Act as a lead resource for lower‑level Patient Access Representatives.
• Suggest process improvements to enhance performance and productivity.
• Follow university and unit policies, safeguarding institutional assets.

Required profile

• High School Diploma or equivalent; relevant experience, certification, or license may be considered.
• Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in patient access, registration, or medical billing.
• Ability to learn new procedures, technologies, and adapt to changing priorities.
• Strong teamwork orientation and clear written and verbal communication skills.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and typical healthcare information systems.
