Patient Access Representative 2 – Full Time (On‑Site)

About the role

The University of Miami Bascom Palmer Eye Institute is seeking a Patient Access Representative 2 to join its front‑line team. In this full‑time, on‑site position you will be the first point of contact for patients, handling registration, insurance verification, and payment collection while ensuring a smooth clinical experience.

Key responsibilities

• Obtain, confirm, and enter demographic, financial, and clinical information for patient financial clearance.
• Contact patients’ families or physicians’ offices to gather missing insurance details.
• Verify insurance eligibility and notify patients and referring physicians of any issues.
• Collaborate with scheduling departments to add‑on patients and secure authorizations, pre‑certifications, and referrals.
• Inform patients of financial liabilities and collect payments.
• Maintain accurate records and documentation in the system of record.
• Adhere to university policies, safeguard assets, and support a positive patient experience.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum 2 years of relevant experience in patient access, registration, or medical front‑desk functions.
• Knowledge of generally accepted accounting procedures and principles.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to handle confidential information discreetly.
• Effective oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
