Patient Access Representative 2 – Full Time

About the role

The University of Miami’s Bascom Palmer Eye Institute is seeking a full‑time Patient Access Representative 2 to join its front‑line team. In this on‑site position you will register patients for clinical services, verify insurance, explain required documents, and collect payments.

Key responsibilities

• Obtain, confirm, and enter demographic, financial, and clinical information for patient accounts.
• Contact patients’ families or physicians’ offices to gather missing insurance details.
• Verify insurance eligibility and notify patients and referring physicians of any issues.
• Collaborate with scheduling departments to identify add‑on patients.
• Secure authorizations, pre‑certifications, and referrals as needed.
• Inform patients of financial liabilities and collect payments.
• Maintain accurate records and documentation in the system of record.
• Adhere to university and unit policies while safeguarding assets.

Required profile

• High School Diploma or equivalent (or relevant experience, certification, or license).
• Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in patient registration or medical front‑desk functions.
• Demonstrated learning agility, teamwork, and strong written and verbal communication.

Required skills

• Proficiency with office software and relevant computer applications.
