About the role
The Patient Access Representative 1 provides front‑line registration and insurance verification for patients seeking clinical services at the University of Miami health system. The role ensures accurate data capture, explains financial and consent policies, and supports a smooth patient experience from arrival to discharge.
Key responsibilities
- Register patients for in‑person and virtual visits, verifying insurance eligibility and collecting payments.
- Obtain and scan insurance cards, driver’s licenses, referrals, and signed consent, HIPAA, and financial liability forms.
- Schedule, modify, or cancel appointments and accurately record no‑show information.
- Answer telephone inquiries, triage calls, and provide information or transfer as needed.
- Coordinate patient flow using multiple systems (EPIC MyChart, Grand Central ADT, Cadence, Prelude, Radiant, OP Time, Care Everywhere, Resolute, Nice inContact, Aria Oncology).
- Assist patients with self‑service technologies such as MyChart and check‑in kiosks.
- Reconcile cash vouchers and deliver them to the designated area at shift end.
Required profile
- Strong attention to detail and ability to handle confidential health information.
- Excellent communication skills for interacting with patients of all ages.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast‑paced, constantly changing environment.
