Patient Access Representative 1 – Full Time (On‑Site)

About the role

The University of Miami’s Bascom Palmer Eye Institute is seeking a Patient Access Representative 1 for a full‑time, on‑site position in Miami, FL. The role involves registering patients for clinical services, obtaining necessary information, verifying insurance benefits, and collecting payments.

Key responsibilities

• Perform full patient registration, verify insurance, and ensure accurate information.
• Collect copies of insurance cards, driver’s licenses, and referrals.
• Explain Consent for Treatment, Financial Liability, and HIPAA, and obtain signed forms.
• Guide patients to complete required questionnaires.
• Schedule, cancel, edit appointments and record no‑shows.
• Reconcile vouchers and deliver them to the designated area.
• Answer telephone calls, respond to inquiries, and transfer calls as needed.
• Follow university and unit policies, safeguarding assets.

Required profile

• High School Diploma or equivalent; relevant experience, certification or license accepted.
• Minimum of 1 year of relevant experience in patient registration or similar role.
• Demonstrated learning agility, teamwork, technical proficiency with office software, and strong written and verbal communication.
