Patient Access Manager – UHealth Primary Care

About the role

The University of Miami/UHealth Department of Clinical Access is seeking a full‑time Patient Access Manager for its Primary Care practice in North Miami. You will lead the Patient Access team to ensure smooth patient entry, accurate data capture, and timely payment for services.

Key responsibilities

• Recruit, supervise, train, and evaluate staff; prepare performance reports.
• Oversee daily registration, data entry of biographical and financial information, and payment collection.
• Verify insurance eligibility and ensure proper chart documentation before clinic visits.
• Serve as the department expert on registration, insurance verification, and documentation guidelines.
• Maintain 24‑hour staffing levels and assist with annual budget development.
• Collaborate with senior leadership on strategy, operational initiatives, and policy creation.
• Monitor internal controls, ensure compliance with university policies, and train staff on these controls.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
• Minimum three years of experience in patient access, registration, or related healthcare operations.
• Demonstrated ability to lead teams, manage change, and improve organizational effectiveness.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.

• Proficiency with office software and relevant computer applications (e.g., Microsoft Office).
• Operational management and financial oversight knowledge.
