Patient Access Customer Service Representative

About the role

R1 is a provider of technology-driven solutions for hospitals, health systems and medical groups. As a Patient Access Customer Service Representative at LifePoint Haywood Regional Medical Center in Clyde, NC, you will be the first point of contact for patients, helping them get fast, compassionate and accurate access to care. The schedule is 12-hour shifts (7:00pm-7:00am) for three days and one half-day 6-hour shift (7:00pm-1:00am or 1:00am-7:00pm), alternating weeks and weekends.

Key responsibilities

• Assist patients and families with the check-in process, working across multiple computer systems to register patients efficiently
• Answer phones and gather accurate patient information quickly in a fast-paced environment
• Minimize delays in registration and answer questions with confidence, clarity and compassion
• Navigate diverse insurance plans and coverage details, enter demographics and medical data, collect co-pays and provide cost estimates when applicable
• Collaborate with nurses, physicians and care teams to ensure smooth patient flow

Required profile

• High School Diploma or GED
• Ability to pass a background check, drug test and meet vaccination requirements
• Experience with patient access, medical registration, insurance verification or front desk is a plus but not required
• No healthcare background needed: training is provided
