Patient Access Coordinator – Student Health Center

About the role

The Patient Access Coordinator serves as the first point of contact for all individuals entering the Student Health Center, including students, spouses, employees, visitors, and participants in special programs. Working within a multidisciplinary medical team, the coordinator ensures smooth check‑in and check‑out experiences while supporting the center’s collaborative care model.

Key responsibilities

• Schedule, reschedule, cancel and confirm in‑person and telehealth appointments across multiple clinics.
• Greet and direct patients and visitors, verify and update demographics, insurance, and eligibility information at each encounter.
• Present, explain, and collect required forms to complete the check‑in process while maintaining HIPAA compliance.
• Collect and verify insurance details, initiate benefit verification, and answer basic insurance questions.
• Collect co‑pays, process cash, check, and credit‑card transactions, issue receipts, and perform daily cash reconciliation.
• Enter patient encounters into the Electronic Health Records system and manage release of protected health information.
• Review, scan, and file patient records accurately.
