Patient Access Associate – On‑Site

About the role

The University of Miami UHealth department of Patient Access at SoLé Mia is seeking a courteous and professional Patient Access Associate to serve as the first point of contact for patients and visitors. You will greet individuals in person or by phone, assist with check‑in procedures, and ensure a smooth experience throughout their visit.

Key responsibilities

• Welcome patients, vendors, staff, and students, providing timely assistance and answering routine questions.
• Obtain and verify patient identification against the EMR, place wristbands, and flag fall‑risk patients.
• Guide patients through self‑serve kiosks, manage check‑in/out queues, and communicate delays to the care team.
• Identify late arrivals and notify clinical staff promptly.
• Maintain a professional demeanor while interacting with the healthcare team and keeping patients informed of any schedule changes.

Required profile

• High School Diploma (required).
• Customer service experience preferred.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including early arrivals, evenings, weekends, holidays, and during emergencies.
• Willingness to float and provide coverage on short notice, including off‑site or temporary locations.
• Readiness to be exposed to contagious diseases as a Tier 1 essential worker.

Required skills

• Familiarity with Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems.
