Pathologist - Companion Diagnostics

About the role

Roche, a leader in companion diagnostics and predictive diagnostics for cancer, is hiring a Pathologist to join its R&D team in Tucson, AZ. The role supports the development and implementation of new assays, working with leading-edge technologies such as immunohistochemistry, in situ hybridization, immunofluorescence, multiplex assays and digital pathology. The position is onsite.

Key responsibilities

• Provide pathology and slide reading support for assay development, FDA submissions, clinical trials and collaboration with internal and external development teams.
• Support the development of primary antibodies, detection systems, probes and special stains.
• Advise on future pathology and medical needs and act as a medical representative on project core teams.
• Drive continuous improvement in work processes to improve operational efficiency and effectiveness.

Required profile

• M.D. or D.O. with US Board Certification in Anatomic Pathology and an active state medical license.
• Anatomic pathology residency training, with expertise in surgical pathology and a proven ability to assess histopathology, IHC, ISH and multiplex assays.
• Experience evaluating complex immunohistochemistry assays such as PD-L1, HER2 and Ki-67.
• Passion for companion diagnostics and the "right drug, right patient, right time" philosophy.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment with scientists, engineers and other experts.

Required skills

• Comfort with digital pathology scanners, automated algorithms and advanced staining platforms (VENTANA Benchmark).
• Preferred: fellowship training, 1 year of clinical practice or industry experience, and prior experience in immunohistochemistry, cytology, molecular and/or genetics.

What we offer

• Salary range of $174,000-$323,100 depending on experience, qualifications and location; actual pay set by the employer.
