PAS Physician Advisor (Part-Time Salaried, Level of Care Team)

About the role

R1 RCM Inc. is looking for a part-time salaried Physician Advisor for its Level of Care Team within the Physician Advisory Solutions (PAS) group. The Admission Status Review (ASR) team reviews cases concurrently and after discharge to ensure compliant admission status, which improves compliance and reduces the risk of denials. The role is remote and requires working pre-scheduled hours, with a home office that is HIPAA compliant.

Key responsibilities

• Address compliance and admission status issues and review and respond to customers promptly, usually within 1-2 hours of submission to the queue.
• Work during pre-scheduled hours, which are set about 30 days in advance; schedules may vary with business needs, mostly late afternoon and evenings on weekdays and mid-day to evenings on weekends.
• Engage with attending physicians to discuss appropriate status supported by documentation.
• Make phone contact with the utilization review team and/or case managers at client hospitals about submitted case determinations.
• Provide written analysis of each case and perform case reviews across multiple specialties.

Required profile

• Active, unrestricted U.S. MD or DO medical licensure.
• At least 3 years of experience after residency, focused on inpatient treatment.
• Strong clinical knowledge across multiple clinical areas.
• Flexibility with the schedule, including a weekend commitment of 30% or more of hours (Friday 7pm through Sunday midnight EST).
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Required skills

• Computer proficiency.
• Strong verbal and written communication, negotiation, reasoning, logic and problem-solving skills.
• Desired: current board certification and previous experience with utilization review or chart review.

What we offer

• Base pay range of $150,075 to $199,070 per year, depending on role, level, location, skills and experience.
