PAS Physician Advisor (Level of Care / Admission Status Review)

About the role

R1 RCM Inc. is a provider of technology-driven solutions for hospitals, health systems and medical groups. Its Physician Advisory Solutions (PAS) team helps organizations reach compliant revenue, and its Admission Status Review (ASR) team of physician advisors reviews cases concurrently and after discharge to ensure compliant admission status and reduce denial risk. This is a remote, US-based position.

Key responsibilities

• Address compliance and admission status issues.
• Review and respond to customers promptly, usually within 1-2 hours of submission to the queue.
• Work during pre-scheduled hours, which are set about 30 days in advance.
• Engage with attending physicians to discuss appropriate status supported by documentation.
• Make phone contact with the utilization review team and case managers at client hospitals about submitted case determinations.
• Provide written analysis of each case and perform case reviews across multiple specialties.

Required profile

• Active, unrestricted U.S. MD or DO medical licensure.
• At least 3 years of experience after residency, focused on inpatient treatment.
• Strong clinical knowledge across multiple clinical areas.
• Flexibility with schedule, including 30% or more of hours on weekends (Friday 7pm through Sunday midnight EST), depending on business needs.
• Home office that is HIPAA compliant.
• Desired: current board certification and previous utilization review or chart review experience.

What we offer

• Base pay range of $150,075 to $199,070 per year, depending on role, level, location, skills and experience.
• Eligibility for an annual bonus plan at a target of 10%.
