About the role

The University of Miami’s Bascom Palmer Eye Institute is seeking a part‑time Registered Nurse (RN2) to serve as a Specialty OR Circulator. The role focuses on delivering patient‑family centered care in a culturally competent, evidence‑based environment.

Key responsibilities

• Assess assigned patients, document nursing care, and report changes in condition and vital signs.
• Modify treatment plans based on patient responses, physician orders, and clinical assessments.
• Review and report diagnostic test results, and consult with physicians and healthcare professionals.
• Prepare patients for examinations, procedures, and treatments, considering age and cultural factors.
• Provide psychological support and maintain a compassionate environment.
• Administer medications and operate medical equipment safely, maintaining accurate records.
• Communicate care plans to patients, families, and the care team while ensuring HIPAA compliance.
• Assist with discharge planning and serve as a preceptor for new staff.

Required profile

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited institution.
• Current RN license in Florida.
• Experience in peri‑operative or specialty nursing, preferably in an eye‑care setting.
• Strong knowledge of patient safety, infection control, and regulatory standards.
