Part-Time Traffic & Weather Anchor

About the role

iHeartMedia, the largest audio company in America, is hiring a part-time Traffic Anchor in Clearwater, Florida. The anchor keeps listeners informed about local traffic and weather so commuters can plan their drives, and works in a fast-paced, newsroom-style environment.

Key responsibilities

• Provide timely, accurate and useful traffic and weather information to help commuters plan their drives.
• Deliver up-to-the-minute reports on accidents, delays and major traffic disruptions.
• Read traffic updates, commercials and public service announcements on air.
• Gather information from multiple sources and monitor local, state and national traffic feeds to find what is most relevant.
• Research, write and produce traffic and weather copy for on-air use, and edit audio with digital editing software.
• Manage incoming information, verify facts and keep station website content updated.
• Create written, visual, audio and video content for websites, blogs and social media.
• Work a flexible schedule, which may include early mornings, evenings, weekends or holidays.

Required profile

• Strong knowledge of local geography, major roadways, mass transit systems and traffic patterns.
• Clear, pleasant and well-controlled on-air voice with excellent pronunciation; English and Spanish bilingual is a plus.
• Previous broadcast experience preferred.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven newsroom setting and to handle high volume while prioritizing and multitasking.
• Attention to detail, follow-through and strong organizational skills.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and SharePoint.
• Excellent writing and editing with a strong command of grammar.
• Familiarity with police scanners is a plus.
