Part-Time Registered Nurse – SICU

About the role

The University of Miami Health System seeks a part‑time Registered Nurse to work in the Surgical Intensive Care Unit (SICU). The RN will provide patient‑family centered care, following evidence‑based standards and ensuring safety and quality.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor and assess critically ill patients continuously.
• Administer medications, therapies, and interventions as ordered.
• Collaborate with physicians, therapists, and support staff to coordinate care.
• Document patient care accurately in the electronic health record.
• Educate patients and families about treatment plans and discharge instructions.
• Respond promptly to emergencies and code situations.
• Maintain infection control and safety protocols.

Required profile

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program; BSN preferred (ASN acceptable with a two‑year BSN completion plan).
• Active Registered Nurse license.
• Minimum two years of SICU nursing experience.
• Ability to deliver culturally competent care in a diverse environment.

Required skills

• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
• Proficiency with electronic health record systems.
• Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking abilities.
