Part-Time Registered Nurse, Emergency Department (Nights)

About the role

AdventHealth in Wauchula, Florida is hiring a part-time Registered Nurse for its Emergency Department, working night shifts. The role covers emergency nursing duties, including patient assessment, care planning, medication administration and documentation.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive patient assessments and develop individualized care plans based on findings and diagnosis
• Administer medications and treatments accurately and monitor patient responses to interventions
• Educate patients and families about conditions, treatment plans, medications and self-care
• Document care in the electronic medical record and collaborate with other healthcare professionals
• Ensure compliance with regulations, accreditation standards and organizational policies, and take part in quality improvement
• Supervise and mentor nursing staff, maintain a safe environment through infection control, and respond to life-threatening situations

Required profile

• Registered Nurse (RN) license and Basic Life Support (CPR) certification
• Associate's degree in Nursing (required); Bachelor's degree preferred
• Experience in emergency department and/or critical care
• Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing
• Ability to use a high level of abstract reasoning to assess patients and revise care plans

Required skills

• Critical care skills and knowledge of nursing care methods and procedures
• Proficiency in clinical skills, multi-tasking and a professional bedside manner
• Organization, prioritization and problem-solving skills
• Knowledge of EKG interpretation (requirements depend on patient population)
• Preferred: previous experience with Cerner, EPIC and an EKG interpretation class
