Part-Time Patient Customer Service Representative

About the role

R1 RCM is recruiting a part-time Patient Customer Service Representative for Ascension St. Thomas DeKalb Hospital. The shift is PRN, with a minimum of 48 hours on call per month and additional shifts available. The role is the first point of contact for patients checking into the hospital, helping them through registration. No healthcare background is required; training is provided.

Key responsibilities

• Register patients using multiple computer systems
• Answer phones and gather information quickly and accurately
• Help patients navigate the registration process and answer questions with confidence and compassion
• Assist patients who may be ill, anxious or confused
• Navigate diverse insurance plans and coverage details (training provided)
• Adapt to interruptions from clinical teams during urgent care situations
• Build rapport and ease patient concerns in real time

Required profile

• High school diploma or GED
• Strong customer service experience
• Ability to pass a background check, drug test and meet vaccination requirements
• Preferred: medical or healthcare experience (not required)
