Part-Time Patient Customer Service Representative

About the role

R1 RCM Inc. is looking for a part-time, PRN Patient Customer Service Representative in its Patient Registration team in Owasso. You will help patients check into the hospital, answering questions during registration and building trust by collecting information accurately and quickly while listening with compassion. Training is provided, so no prior healthcare experience is needed.

Key responsibilities

• Work on computers and answer phones to intake patient information in a busy environment, using multiple screens and programs.
• Type quickly and accurately, entering details that must be correct between physician and nurse check-ins.
• Listen carefully to anxious or very ill patients, ask follow-up questions and build rapport in real time.
• Collect patient and insurance information, dealing with the variation in health plans and coverage.
• Work around clinicians interrupting the process for emergent clinical care, often on your feet.

Required profile

• High school diploma or GED.
• Excellent customer service experience.
• Up to date on all vaccinations, passes a drug test and a background check before hire.
• Comfortable seeing illness and injuries in a hospital/lab setting; no prior healthcare knowledge required.

Required skills

• Quick study of technology and ability to type and answer phones.
• Confident multi-tasking in a fast-paced environment.

The base pay range is $14.50 - $18.99 per hour, depending on role, level, location, skills, experience and education. The position is US-based and part-time, PRN as needed.
