Part-Time Patient Customer Service Representative

About the role

R1 RCM Inc. is recruiting a part-time, PRN (as needed) Patient Customer Service Representative for Ascension St. Elizabeth Hospital in Appleton. As a Customer Service Representative you help patients check into the hospital and answer questions during registration, building trust by collecting information accurately and quickly while listening with compassion. No previous healthcare experience is required; training is provided.

Key responsibilities

• Work on computers and answer phones to intake patient information in a busy environment, across multiple screens, so that details are entered correctly between physician and nurse check-ins.
• Type quickly and work across multiple programs, staying ready for clinicians to interrupt the process for emergent clinical care.
• Help patients who may be very ill or worried, asking follow-up questions and building rapport in real time.
• Collect patient and insurance information, dealing with the variation in health plans and coverage through training.

Required profile

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Excellent customer service experience.
• Preferred: medical experience.
• Must be up to date on all vaccinations, pass a drug test and pass a background check before hire.
• Comfortable seeing illness and injuries in a hospital/lab environment.

Required skills

• Quick study with technology.
• Ability to type and answer phones.
• Confident multi-tasker.

The base pay range is $16.00 - $21.10 per hour, depending on role, level, location, skills, experience and education. The company states it offers a competitive benefits package.
