Part-Time Microbiology Faculty (Visiting Professor)

About the role

Chamberlain University, a healthcare education provider with more than 135 years of history, is looking for a part-time Microbiology Faculty member (Visiting Professor) to teach on-site in St. Louis, MO. The university seeks industry professionals to share their knowledge and experience with undergraduate and graduate students. Courses meet once or twice a week for eight weeks, with face-to-face instruction blended with online discussion and assignments. The course covers basic microbiology, medically important microorganisms and infectious diseases, microscopy, microbial growth and genetics, antimicrobial agents, epidemiology and immune responses to pathogens, with lab exercises on aseptic techniques, isolation and culture, microscopy and staining.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and deliver an approved syllabus following the local campus template, including terminal course objectives.
• Organize, prepare and regularly revise and update all course materials.
• Use online technologies and course software (websites, e-mail, online discussions) to make the course accessible to students.
• Communicate clearly and effectively, setting expectations for assignments, exam dates and grading distribution.
• Ensure exam content matches course objectives and grade fairly, giving timely feedback.
• Complete other duties as assigned and comply with all policies and standards.

Required profile

• Master's degree required for all faculty positions (18 graduate hours in the subject for undergraduate teaching).
• Requisite subject matter expertise and outstanding communication skills.
• Excellent motivational and instructional skills in a diverse, non-traditional environment.
• Ability to work collegially and facilitate diverse groups.
• Additional requirements may apply due to state licensing or accreditation.

What we offer

• Pay of $1,120 to $7,245 per assignment, depending on education and experience; actual pay may vary with course type, experience, location and other factors.
