Part-Time Evening Facilities Technician

About the role

Villa Maria Academy High School is looking for a qualified, proactive Facilities Technician for a part-time evening role. The Facilities Department keeps the campus grounds cared for, maintains educational facilities, manages vendor relationships and delivers good service. The technician helps with preventative trade maintenance (HVAC, plumbing, electrical), general repairs, grounds maintenance and event set-ups and breakdowns.

Key responsibilities

• Handle work requests and service assignments through the campus maintenance ticket system.
• Carry out tasks assigned by the Director of Facilities, Director of Campus Operations, school administration and the IHM Sisters.
• Perform general repairs such as carpentry, painting, masonry, mounting fixtures and minor cleaning.
• Set up, stage and break down for school events, assemblies, athletic activities and community gatherings.
• Inspect, monitor and service HVAC systems and boilers, including changing filters and belts, oiling motors and reporting faults.
• Repair electrical, lighting and plumbing fixtures and infrastructure.
• Support landscaping and exterior care, including mulching, planting, bed weeding and snow removal during working hours.
• Help maintain and operate school equipment, tools and vehicles such as pickup trucks, golf carts and power washers.
• Keep in close contact with faculty, staff, students and administration, and report safety issues to authorities when needed.

Required profile

• High school diploma (or equivalent).
• 3 to 5 years of hands-on experience in HVAC, plumbing, electrical or a closely related facilities trade.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs regularly and to walk, stand, sit and drive for long periods in all weather.
• Valid driver's licence and ability to operate school utility vehicles and maintenance equipment.
• Successful federal, state and Archdiocesan background clearances.
