Part-Time Clinical Laboratory Assistant 3

About the role

The University of Miami’s UHealth Labs is seeking a Part-Time Clinical Laboratory Assistant 3 to support routine operations in both clinical and research laboratories. The role involves handling patient specimens, maintaining accurate records, and ensuring timely communication of test results.

Key responsibilities

• Identify, accession, and transport patient samples for laboratory testing.
• Process specimens including centrifugation, aliquoting, and volume measurement.
• Maintain laboratory files, logs, and inventory levels in accordance with protocols.
• Generate and forward patient reports to appropriate departments or physicians.
• Respond to inquiries from reference labs, physicians, and patient units regarding specimen requirements.
• Serve as lead or backup for the supervisor when absent.
• Adhere to confidentiality regulations and university policies.
• Participate in departmental performance‑improvement initiatives.

Required profile

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum 4 years of relevant laboratory experience.
• Applicable certifications as defined by the department.
• Ability to learn new procedures and adapt to changing priorities.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Required skills

• Centrifugation and specimen processing techniques.
• Aliquoting and precise volume measurement.
• Laboratory inventory management.
• Proficiency with office software and laboratory information systems.
