Parks Program Worker – Part‑time (20 hrs/week)

About the role

The Georgia Department of Juvenile Justice is seeking a Parks Program Worker to deliver structured recreation and leisure activities for youth at the Elbert Shaw Residential Youth Development Center in Dalton.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, coordinate and lead daily recreational and leisure programs for assigned youths.
• Document all program activities and maintain accurate records.
• Conduct quarterly inventory of recreation materials and replenish as needed.
• Develop a monthly activity calendar and adjust schedules for holidays and school breaks in collaboration with facility departments.
• Promote decision‑making, physical fitness, leisure options and social skills through sports and health activities.

Required profile

• Associate’s degree or completion of a vocational/technical program related to the assignment, OR at least one year of relevant experience.
• Preference for candidates with experience in recreation therapy, athletic coaching, or working with juvenile offenders or at‑risk youth.
• Three‑month internship with the Department of Juvenile Justice is a plus.
