Parish Business Manager

About the role

The Parish Business Manager is a full-time leadership role supporting the pastor of Our Lady of Guadalupe parish in Philadelphia. The manager provides operational direction and guidance and ensures high-quality performance in parish operating and financial matters, reporting to the pastor.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and supervise the parish's financial practices, including budgeting, investment approach, accounting and Archdiocesan standards compliance
• Supervise the accounting function together with the AOP shared service center: financial records, reports, annual budgeting, contribution records, expense oversight, bank account reconciliation and payroll processing
• Maintain internal controls for parish receipts, security procedures for parish funds and invoice review before payment
• Keep parish grounds and buildings in good condition, supervise maintenance staff and develop a long-range facilities plan
• Identify and run operational and capital projects, manage their budgets and coordinate staff and vendors
• Manage parish people administration, record keeping and compliance, and support the pastor in day-to-day people operations and culture
• Support the Finance Council with analysis and updates, and act as a staff resource on parish finance issues

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
• Experience in each of the three main areas of the job: finance, facilities and project management, and people administration
• Appropriate and friendly communication skills, confidentiality, organization and ability to set priorities
• Functions in a manner consistent with the mission of the Catholic Church

• Proficiency in QuickBooks
• Computer skills for databases, word processing, Outlook, the internet and parish data systems
