Paralegal - Claims Intake and Trial Support

About the role

Leidos is seeking Paralegals in the Washington DC area to assist the program and management team with workflows for electronic case filings (ECF). The role supports the Division of Offices, Boards and Divisions at the Department of Justice in a fast-paced, diverse environment, helping attorneys prepare for trials. The position is covered under the Service Contract Act.

Key responsibilities

• Perform intake and track hundreds to thousands of claims per matter
• Enter claims filing information into an Excel tracking system
• Proofread settlement memos for content and formatting
• Respond to DOJ attorney requests for filing information and retrieval
• Conduct simple to moderately complex database searches
• Perform simple legal research
• Assist DOJ attorneys in preparation for trials

Required profile

• Paralegal certificate, JD, or currently attending an ABA-accredited law school (at least one year of study)
• One year of legal training or experience, or two years of college education, may substitute for the certificate
• At least one year of litigation paralegal or project experience
• Experience with primary litigation and trial preparation
• Excellent written and oral communication skills

Required skills

• Excel for tracking spreadsheets and claims intake processes
• Legal research tools such as LEXIS and Westlaw
• Preferred: proofreading, organizational skills, BlueBooking and Cite Checking, Relativity or another review platform, federal government experience, claims processing experience

The pay is $25.58 per hour. The posting was made on August 24, 2026 and is expected to stay open for at least three days.
