Overnight Department Manager

About the role

Meijer is hiring an Overnight Department Manager for its store in Cedar Springs. The role covers the overnight shift and is responsible for team member engagement, including recognition, feedback, coaching, performance management, training and development, and succession planning. It also oversees area operations and financials such as shrink, productivity, safety, scheduling and staffing forecasts.

Key responsibilities

• Engage with team members to ensure they receive onboarding, training, development, coaching and feedback.
• Identify talent and hold career discussions to build a diverse pipeline for team member and leadership roles.
• Hold candid conversations so Meijer standards are upheld and team members can grow.
• Own area operations and financial results, including budget line items in the P&L, and drive safety, compliance and condition management.
• Ensure Team Leaders and Leads assign daily work and training needs.
• Implement process improvements and act as a steward of the Meijer culture.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 4+ years of retail/grocery or customer service experience.
• Progressive leadership experience preferred.
• Ability to communicate clearly and give precise direction to team members.
• Ability to analyze financial and statistical information and make informed decisions.
• Strong business acumen and understanding of seasonal and diverse merchandising.
