Ovens/Autoclave Operator

About the role

The Ovens/Autoclave Operator is responsible for loading, setting up, and operating autoclaves, ovens, and related equipment to cure and bond aircraft parts. This position ensures that all processes follow specifications and safety standards while maintaining accurate records.

Key responsibilities

• Set up and operate autoclaves and auxiliary equipment to cure and bond metallic and non‑metallic aircraft components.
• Read and interpret shop orders and authorization documents to determine bonding specifications.
• Arrange jigs, fixtures, and bonding racks, and position them in the autoclave using hoists, forklifts, or tow equipment.
• Inspect parts, verify vacuum bag installation, and connect thermocouples and vacuum lines.
• Adjust manual controls or enter commands on computerized panels to regulate power, cooling, vacuum, heat, and pressure.
• Monitor instruments, switches, and recorders during operation, modifying or aborting processes as needed.
• Maintain manual or computerized processor records and operate curing ovens and heated‑platen presses.
• Communicate with other operators to ensure safe handling of high‑pressure equipment and perform occasional calibration of autoclave components.

Required profile

• At least one year of aircraft assembly or general manufacturing experience, or completion of an approved training program.
• Ability to read technical specifications and follow detailed work instructions.
• Commitment to workplace cleanliness, housekeeping, and accuracy of work.
