About the role

The University of Miami/UHealth Department of Sports Medicine is seeking a full‑time Outreach Athletic Trainer 2 to provide patient‑centered athletic training services in Coral Gables, FL. The role involves clinical evaluation, treatment, and on‑site event coverage for athletes and other patients.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive health histories and physical assessments for acute, chronic, or potential injuries.
• Perform range‑of‑motion, strength, neurovascular, palpation, and functional testing.
• Review and update Pre‑participation Physical Evaluation forms and facilitate clearances.
• Administer baseline concussion testing and document results.
• Fit and educate patients on the use of splints, braces, crutches, and other orthopedic appliances.
• Provide wound care, gait training, and splint application/removal.
• Document all patient encounters in the electronic medical record (EMR) and communicate with healthcare team members.
• Serve as a preceptor or mentor for students in sports‑medicine clinical experiences.
• Develop event‑specific emergency action plans and maintain inventory of supplies at remote locations.

Required profile

• Certified Athletic Trainer (ATC) with appropriate state licensure.
• Full‑time availability to work onsite and travel for event coverage.
• Strong clinical evaluation skills and ability to provide patient‑centered care.

Required skills

• Concussion baseline testing.
