About the role
This full‑time position advances the University of Miami Health System’s Antimicrobial Stewardship Program (ASP) within ambulatory care clinics and multi‑specialty facilities. The pharmacist will optimize antimicrobial use, improve clinical outcomes, and support safe transitions of care between acute and outpatient settings.
Key responsibilities
- Establish and expand antimicrobial stewardship services across ambulatory clinics and facilities.
- Assist the Outpatient Parenteral Antibiotic Therapy (OPAT) team with appropriate dosing, indication, and administration of antimicrobial therapies.
- Participate in Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) ambulatory ASP initiatives.
- Provide pharmacy consultation to providers caring for ambulatory patients.
- Advocate for optimal antimicrobial and vaccine use to improve outcomes and prevent resistance.
- Develop medication and vaccine protocols, order sets, and facilitate utilization reviews and performance‑improvement projects.
- Mentor pharmacy students, residents, and other healthcare providers.
- Track and report key performance indicators, antimicrobial usage, and cost metrics.
- Engage in ambulatory antimicrobial stewardship research and present findings to stakeholders.
- Conduct case reviews of adverse events and poor outcomes related to antimicrobial use.
Required profile
- Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) degree from an accredited institution.
- Active pharmacy license in the state of Florida.
- Completion of a PGY1 pharmacy residency or at least three years of relevant clinical experience, preferably in ambulatory care.
- Board Certified Infectious Diseases Pharmacist (BCIDP) certification preferred.
