OSV Engineer

About the role

The OSV Engineer will support vessel operations by working closely with the Port Engineer and Vessel Captain to uphold Curtin Maritime’s standards of Innovation, Integrity and Efficiency. The role involves planning voyages, overseeing mechanical systems and ensuring safe, efficient performance on board.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with the Port Engineer and Captain to maintain the Curtin Standard throughout the vessel.
• Plan and execute voyages while monitoring and troubleshooting mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
• Operate and record data in the Vessel Management System (VMS) and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
• Lead and mentor crew members, providing training and constructive feedback.

Required profile

• Strong attention to detail, excellent organizational skills and ability to make safe decisions under pressure.
• Physical ability to work on uneven decks, lift up to 100 lb, swim and operate in confined or dark spaces.
• Proactive ownership mindset with a focus on mentorship and crew development.

Required skills

• VMS operation and record‑keeping.
• Electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic and mechanical system troubleshooting.
• Winch and Z‑Drive operation.
• Basic welding and engine‑room maintenance.
