Operator I – Sludge & Water Treatment

About the role

The Operator I is responsible for operating and maintaining sludge dewatering, processing, disposal and testing equipment at a refinery/industrial facility. The role ensures water is purified to meet customer specifications while adhering to safety and quality standards.

Key responsibilities

• Operate and maintain equipment such as pumps, engines, centrifuges, generators, valves, gates, mixers, conveyors, blowers, dryers, chemical feed systems, odor control and disinfection units.
• Handle sludge processing filters, belt presses, and material handling equipment.
• Perform routine testing and monitoring of water quality.
• Use computer programs for process control and data recording.
• Work collaboratively in a team environment and take on additional responsibilities as needed.
• Provide 24‑hour rotational on‑call emergency support when required.

Required profile

• High School Diploma or GED (required); related experience preferred.
• Ability to read, write and comprehend English operational, safety and quality instructions.
• Basic mathematical skills.
• Valid driver’s license with a safe driving record.
• Ability to pass a drug test and criminal background check.
