Open-Rank Tenure Track Faculty, Experimental Quantum Physics

About the role

The Department of Physics in the Grainger College of Engineering at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign is seeking one open-rank (assistant, associate or full professor level) tenure-track, full-time faculty member in experimental quantum physics, broadly defined. The position covers quantum information science (QIS), condensed matter physics (CMP) and atomic, molecular and optical (AMO) physics.

Illinois Physics has internationally recognized strengths in experimental and theoretical research in CMP, AMO and QIS, with current work on strongly correlated and topological quantum matter, superconductivity, 2D quantum materials, quantum simulation and sensing, quantum algorithms and error correction, and superconducting and solid-state qubits. Faculty benefit from a rich campus-wide research environment, collaboration with theorists at the Leggett Institute for Condensed Matter Theory, the Illinois Quantum Information Science and Technology Center (IQUIST) and the Illinois Seitz Materials Research Laboratory, and participation in multi-institutional quantum initiatives such as HQAN, Q-NEXT, the Chicago Quantum Exchange and the IBM-Illinois Discovery Accelerator Institute.
