Oncology Clinical Scientist Intern

About the role

The Oncology Clinical Scientist Intern will join Johnson & Johnson's Global Oncology Internship Program, working on a team dedicated to discovering new therapeutics. This 12‑week hybrid internship provides hands‑on experience in a large pharmaceutical R&D setting.

Key responsibilities

• Design and execute experiments using techniques such as ELISA, PCR, DNA sequencing, flow cytometry, and cell‑based functional assays.
• Participate in department, team, and cross‑functional meetings, and present research findings to senior leadership.
• Collect and record data, review literature, and assist in interpreting and reporting results.
• Prepare and present a poster/abstract at the annual global summer intern research symposium.

Required profile

• Currently enrolled in an accredited university program (undergraduate with at least four semesters completed or graduate student) in biology, biochemistry, genetics, immunology, computational biology, or related field.
• Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0, legally authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.
• Strong communication, organizational, and leadership abilities; ability to work in a global matrixed team.

Required skills

• Laboratory techniques: ELISA, PCR, DNA sequencing, flow cytometry, cell culture, cell‑based functional assays.
• Computational methods: single‑cell RNA‑seq analysis and related data analysis.
• Proficiency with Slack and Microsoft Office suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, SharePoint, Outlook, Word).
