Occupational Therapist (York County/Dover Area)

About the role

UnitedHealth Group's Amedisys unit, which provides home health, hospice and community-based services, is looking for an Occupational Therapist in the York County/Dover area. The therapist evaluates and treats patients in their homes to promote independence, safety and improved quality of life, helping people regain or maintain the skills needed for daily living after illness, injury or functional decline. The role works with patients, families and interdisciplinary team members to build individualized treatment plans according to physician orders and agency policy.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver occupational therapy services under a physician-approved plan of care
• Maintain the plan of care and document the rationale if problems identified in the assessment are not addressed
• Ensure the safety and effectiveness of service delivery and complete documentation timely and accurately
• Supervise the home health aide when the registered nurse is not active in the case
• Perform other duties as assigned

Required profile

• Graduate of an occupational therapy program accredited by ACOTE (AOTA) or a successor organization
• Current state license to practice occupational therapy
• Eligible for or has passed the NBCOT entry-level exam
• Current CPR certification
• 1+ year of related occupational therapy experience; less than 1 year requires approval from regional clinical leaders and mentoring or a residency program
• Driver's license and reliable transportation
