Nursing Assistant – Perioperative Services (Full-Time)

About the role

The University of Miami Hospital & Clinics is seeking a full‑time Nursing Assistant to support peri‑operative services and surgery. You will work in a fast‑paced environment, ensuring patient safety and maintaining a clean surgical suite.

Key responsibilities

• Transport patients safely between rooms and peri‑operative areas, verifying identification bands and charts.
• Assist patients onto and off stretchers and support nursing staff with positioning and skin preparation.
• Clean, disinfect, and prepare the surgical suite and stretchers between cases.
• Receive, restock, and manage departmental supplies.
• Maintain cleanliness of operating rooms, floors, pantry, and dining areas; empty trash and suction canisters regularly.
• Organize the attendant’s supply room and keep inventory of cleaning tools and wet‑vacuum equipment.
• Return equipment to storage and ensure orderly workspaces.
• Follow university and unit policies, safeguarding assets and patient confidentiality.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum one year of relevant experience in a healthcare setting.
• Ability to work evenings, nights, and weekends as needed.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to prioritize under pressure.
