Nursing Assistant – Periop Services (Full-Time)

About the role

The University of Miami Hospital & Clinics is seeking a dedicated Nursing Assistant to support perioperative services in the Surgery/OR unit. This full‑time position works 40 hours per week on day or night shifts, Monday through Friday, providing essential patient transport and suite preparation.

Key responsibilities

• Transport patients safely between rooms and perioperative areas, verifying identification bands and charts.
• Assist patients onto and off stretchers and support nursing staff with positioning and skin preparation.
• Clean and disinfect the surgical suite, stretchers, and operating rooms between cases.
• Restock supplies, manage inventory, and maintain the attendant’s supply room.
• Empty trash, suction canisters, and replace containers throughout the day.
• Mop floors, clean patient pantry and dining areas, and ensure overall cleanliness of the unit.
• Return equipment to storage and keep work areas orderly.
• Follow university policies, safeguard assets, and adhere to safety protocols.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum 1 year of relevant experience in a healthcare setting.
• Ability to work evenings, nights, and weekends as needed.
