Nurse Navigator – Obstetrics & Gynecology

About the role

The University of Miami/UHealth Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology is seeking a full‑time Nurse Navigator 1 to serve as the first point of contact for patients entering the health system. The role focuses on timely appointment scheduling, care coordination, and continuous support throughout the patient journey.

Key responsibilities

• Triages new patient appointments and ensures prompt scheduling with appropriate providers.
• Reviews external medical records to determine suitable scheduling.
• Identifies barriers to care and refers patients to support services and relevant organizations.
• Educates patients on treatment plans based on diagnoses.
• Provides ongoing counseling on positive health practices and supports patients across the care continuum.
• Collaborates with a multidisciplinary team to determine optimal treatment pathways.
• Performs holistic evaluations of specialty populations using proven techniques.
• Mentors and precepts students, new graduates, and visiting professionals.
• Maintains professional knowledge through continuing education and professional organization involvement.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
• Minimum of 2 years of relevant nursing experience.
• Valid State of Florida RN license.
• Ability to learn new procedures, technologies, and adapt to changing priorities.
