About the role
The University of Miami Health System Department of Imaging Services is seeking a full‑time Nuclear Medicine Technologist – Level II to join the Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center in Miami. The technologist will perform complex diagnostic and therapeutic nuclear medicine procedures, delivering high‑quality images while minimizing radiation exposure.
Key responsibilities
- Coordinate and manage scheduling and patient flow for inter‑departmental nuclear medicine procedures.
- Perform and supervise diagnostic imaging studies under radiologist direction.
- Administer diagnostic and therapeutic radiopharmaceuticals according to approved protocols.
- Assist in education and training of new physicians and staff.
- Develop and refine imaging protocols in collaboration with radiologists and PhDs.
- Participate in research initiatives and protocol development.
- Monitor daily charging of procedures and supplies for accuracy.
- Provide equipment demonstrations for site visits and deliver in‑service training.
- Verify orders, obtain consents, and ensure patient identification and safety.
Required profile
- Current staff, faculty, or temporary employee of the University of Miami (internal applicants use Workday).
- Independent judgment, ingenuity, and initiative with responsibility for designated areas and equipment.
- Ability to supervise day‑to‑day operations in the absence of the modality chief technologist or radiology manager.
Required skills
- Operation of nuclear medicine imaging equipment and scanners.
- Administration of radiopharmaceuticals.
- Radiation safety and protection procedures.
- Complex diagnostic and therapeutic nuclear medicine techniques.
